Trend Micro offers free safe computing guide to protect Middle East businesses from viruses
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, May 16 - 2004 at 13:45
- PRESS RELEASE
International Internet security provider is trying to counter the virus threat to Middle East computers by making available a free-of-charge anti-virus protection service to all Middle East computer users.
"These waves of malicious viruses are causing real inconvenience, and embarrassment, to businesses and domestic PC users," said Justin Doo, Managing Director of Trend Micro in the Middle East and Africa region. "There's no sign of them letting up. If anything, they're getting nastier and more damaging. But there is really no need for any PC to be at risk."
Concerned at the needless damage to computers in the region, leading international Internet security firm Trend Micro has set up a web-page that enables businesses and domestic PC users to immunise their machines against infection, free of charge.
Users have only to follow a few, elementary steps - clearly outlined on the website - to make sure that they are protected against malicious code entering their PC's. This web-site, http://housecall.trendmicro.com, will also offer simple advice on safe computing practices and on cutting the chance of triggering viruses or spreading them to other people.
"A fil of prevention is worth ten thousand dirhams of cure," says Doo. "We're offering this as a free service to the community. We want to make sure that harmful viruses have a minimal impact on business operations in the region, and we hope lots of people and companies will take advantage of this protection offer. The more computers there are protected, the fewer places for infectious viruses to hide."
