Ms. Zahra Taher, Managing Director of Eventscom, will be one of the speakers at a plenary session that will examine the future trends of tourism with a concentration on employment and business opportunities.

Her lecture will highlight the role that 'events' play in boosting tourism opportunities while drawing a contrast to the emphasis given towards constructing facilities such as hotels, theme parks and the like, as methods to generate tourism. She will further elaborate on Bahrain's recent experience in hosting Formula One and how it spurred tourism and boosted the Kingdom's economy.

Ms. Taher will also provide insight through sharing her own experiences as a public relations and marketing professional and also present examples of events, designed and implemented by Eventscom, that generated widespread interest and enthusiasm in Bahrain.

'It is a privilege, not only to represent Bahrain at such a prestigious international forum, but also to have this opportunity to talk about the Kingdom's enormous business potential before a galaxy of top international business leaders.

'In addition, the focus of this forum is on women in business and, thus, it gives me added pride to participate as a Bahraini business woman who has experienced first hand, the support the political leadership has given in encouraging us to be active participants in the economic development of our country.

'I am confident that the story of Bahrain will replace any misconceptions surrounding the role of women in the Middle East with a much more positive perception ,' said Ms. Taher.

The meeting, which is expected to be attended by over 250 business personalities from Europe, the Gulf and other Arab countries, will cover topics that include: The developing role of working women in the Arab World, Managing the work-life balance, Women in entrepreneurship, The effective use of IT to enhance business networks, Developing and leading global businesses, and Media communication.

Dedicated sector workshops, with sector-specific mini-sessions for set topics, will cover areas such as tourism and leisure, healthcare and the downstream petrochemical industry.

This year's opening keynote address will be delivered by HRH Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, with the welcome note being given by Christine McCafferty, parliamentary patron of Women in Business International.

Other distinguished speakers include Saudi Ambassador to the Court of St James, H.H Prince Turki Al Faisal, Iraqi Works Minister, Nasrin Mustafa Berwari and Britain's Deputy Minster for Women at the Department of Trade and Industry, Jacqueline Smith.

The forum is organised in association with UK Trade and Investment and The Welsh Trade International.
