Ministry of Finance and Industry participates in Beirut conference

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Khalfan bin Kharbash, UAE Minister of State for Finance and Industry headed the UAE delegation to the two-day Beirut conference, which discusses fiscal reforms in the Arab and Near East Countries.
Dr. Kharbash presided over the opening session, which debated the main theme of macroeconomic and fiscal challenges facing the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Region. Four panelists presented papers about the main economic issues and the fiscal reform agenda in the MENA region during the course of this session.
The conference that brings together a number of policy makers and international organizations has been organized with a view to engage in a discussion about designing and implementing reform agendas. Bringing regional development experiences into focus, the conference aims to provide valuable information for ongoing and new reform experiences and to reinforce cooperation between regional governments. Additionally, the conference aims to underscore policy challenges through a thorough discussion of some specific country experiences.
The UAE Ministry of Finance and Industry will make a presentation about its reform initiatives in the fiscal sector tomorrow, wherein Dr. Kharbash will share with other participants the UAE experience on the development of the financial system through adopting the Performance Based Budgeting. He will also discuss other reform initiatives such as the Federal E-government, the Total Quality Management, and the Executive Training Program.
