  • PRESS RELEASE

Marks and Spencer yesterday opened the doors of their second store in Dubai at Wafi City Mall.

Opening to a crowd of VIP guests, the store is the seventh Marks and Spencer store operated by the Al-Futtaim Group in the region, with stores already in Dubai - their flagship store, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman.

Jim McCallum, Group Director - Retail, Al-Futtaim Group said: "We are delighted to open our second store in Dubai and are delighted to have the opportunity to be located in the wonderful extension of the Wafi City mall. This store is going to be very successful and should play a significant part in increasing the brand's market share. The brand has performed strongly since it opened in 1998 and Al-Futtaim now currently operates seven stores in the Middle East in association with Marks & Spencer, which remains Europe's largest clothing retailer."

Operated by the Al-Futtaim Group, Marks and Spencer, a unique British concept, has enjoyed immense success since first opening, and this additional store shows the level of their success and the commitment to the growth and development of Dubai and its established shopping malls.

The new Wafi City store will be 22,000 square feet, and will house the quality range of clothing that has become synonymous with Marks and Spencer; Per Una for ladies, Autograph cosmetics, Italian, Blue Harbour for men, a great selection of Lingerie, the exquisite Linen collection and the funky range of children's clothing, including DB07 - the range that is designed in conjunction with David Beckham.
McCallum continued: "Marks and Spencer has always been a destination store in Deira, and we have found that concept has worked extremely well for us. However, as Dubai expands, we felt it was time to offer a second store to our customers that would still offer an outstanding range of clothes and food."

The store has a designated food area ranging from frozen fish dishes to luxury Swiss chocolates which are unique to the Gulf region.

The Marks and Spencer store is now open to the public and is located in the new extension at Wafi City Mall.
