- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, May 22 - 2004 at 12:54
- PRESS RELEASE
Jumeirah Beach Residence has announced the selection of contractors for six of its sectors, marking an upsurge in activity at the last remaining beachfront property in the Jumeirah part of the city of Dubai.
The JBR team has an excellent track record and was behind the development of Dubai Internet City and the Dubai Media City projects. Al Dabal said that construction work on seven sectors on the vast property development is likely to start almost simultaneously and soon.
"We are onto an indeed very busy phase of development. Tens of thousands of workers are being mobilised to bring up Jumeirah's last beachfront development offering a resort lifestyle," Al Dabal said. "We are committed to completing this quality development on time and we will."
The last natural beach-style in-city development in Dubai offers a mini-city community environment with all facilities to make it self-sufficient, including four major hotel developments.
The residential, commercial, entertainment and retail development will have 40 towers - including the four exclusive hotel towers. The mini-township development along the beachfront is being built at a cost of AED5.2 billion and will cover a gross floor area of more than 22 million square feet.
Leading contractors
The Jumeirah Beach Residence CEO revealed that Arab Technical Construction Co. (LLC) ARABTEC has been selected as the contractor for Sectors 1 and 3, while Saleh Construction has been awarded the contract for Sector 2. Sector 4 has gone to Al Habtoor Engineering. Al Shafar General Contracting Co. LLC and Dubai Civil Engineering have been awarded the contracts for Sectors 6 and 7 respectively.
"Sector 5 is still in the negotiating stage and we expect the same to be finalised in two week's time," said Al Dabal.
He pointed out that the four hotels are still in design process and that at the site, excavation has been completed.
Commenting on the contractors, Al Dabal said all were selected through a detailed evaluation process.
"The 1.7 kilometre long Jumeirah Beach Residence project is very high-profile and we wanted to ensure that we got the very best people to execute it. In this way, we can ensure top quality. The contractors that have been finally selected are all top of their class with a tremendous track record of executing many of the world-class projects that dot the city of Dubai," Al Dabal said.
The luxurious development's project manager is Mace International.
