DSS Organising Committee discuss upcoming events and promotions

The Dubai Summer Surprises 2004 Organising Committee met today to review the details on the array of activities to be showcased during this year's edition, which begins 25 days hence, from June 17, 2004.
During the meeting, Mr. Al Nabouda highlighted the action plan for the media campaign, which will help promote the coverage of the DSS activities, both locally and internationally. The prime objective of the media campaign is to attract more visitors and families to the bevy of activities organised during the 10 weeks of entertainment, knowledge and fun of DSS 2004.
Mr. Al Nabouda pointed out that the promotional roadshows are being organised in the various Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) cities, effective May 25. These roadshows are being ably backed by the media campaign, which is targeted at the wooing a large number of families in the region.
He also announced that the participation of the DSS during the Arabian Travel Market, which was held in Dubai earlier this month, helped in enhancing the profile of the DSS and promoted its unique activities in front of an enthusiastic audience of participants and visitors.
Other participants at the DSS Organising Committee meeting provided an update on the various activities of the DSS, which will span over 10 weeks from June 17 to August 27, 2004. They assured that the various events organised during the DSS were unique in their own way and some of them were being unveiled for the first time, which will be a huge draw for the families turning up at the various venues.
Summing up the meeting, Mr. Al Nabouda talked about the various departments and private companies who were part of the DSS 2004, either directly or by way of sponsorships. He added that the DSS is poised to attract a large number of sponsors, primarily because the sponsors are assured of reaching a wide target audience, in view of the profile of the activities it involves.
Among those who attended the meeting included Captain Ali Sabt, representing Dubai Police, which is presenting the unique Adventure Surprises; Captain Omar Al Shamsi, Member of the Committee for Arts Surprises, which is being presented by the Department of Naturalisation and Residency in Dubai; Abdul Rahman Eisa, Head of the Committee for Heritage Surprises, which will be organised by Dubai Customs; Ahmed Al Jeziry, Head of the Committee for Cartoon Surprises, presented by Dubai Ports Authority; Majid Abdullah Al Majid, Member of the Committee for Knowledge Surprises, presented by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Dhirar Belhoul, Member of the Committee for Flower Surprises, organised by Dubai Municipality; Hassan Ali, Member of the Committee for Back-2-School Surprises, presented by the Department of Economic Development; Hala Lootah and Yousif Al Dowais, Members of the Committee for Colour Surprises, presented by the Department of Health and Medical Sciences; Abdulaziz Hareb, Head of the Committee for Lectures and Seminars, representing the Dubai Land Department; Amal Al Hammadi, Head of the Dubai Development Board; and Marwan Bin Byat and Sheikha Al Mutawa, Members of the Committee for Sweet Surprises, presented by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing.
Dubai Summer Surprises 2004 will begin with Arts Surprises from June 17-23, followed by Ice Surprises from June 24-30, Sweets Surprises from July 1-7, Cartoon Surprises from July 8-14, Flower Surprises from July 15-21, Heritage Surprises from July 22-28, Adventure Surprises from July 29-August 4, Knowledge Surprises from August 5-11, Back-2-School Surprises from August 12-18 and ends with the Colour Surprises from August 19- 27, 2004.
