Great expectations for Dubai-German Forum

Dubai-German Economic Forum being held in Munich this week is expected to achieve great results with Dubai looking for investment and Germany export opportunities.

The Dubai-German Economic Forum is the first initiative by Dubai in Germany and is expected to be a great success for the business community in both Dubai and Germany.

The forum is taking place from May 26-28 in Munich and is being organized by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Dubai Development and Investment Authority, and the German Industry and Commerce office in United Arab Emirates in cooperation with Index, the conferences and exhibitions organizers.

'The forum aims to further develop and enhance the flow of investment between the two countries', commented Abdul Rahman Ghanim Al Mutaiwee, the Director General of the DCCI who will be representing DCCI at the forum.

He highlighted that the economic dialogue with Germany is already very strong, as the UAE is considered to be Germany's top importer, 'but this initiative aims to equalize this commercial relationship by encouraging German investment in Dubai,' added Al Mutaiwee.

From the German side, the German Commercial and Industrial Office in Dubai is playing an important role in encouraging German investors to use this opportunity to get better understanding of the investment and commercial opportunities and the facilities available in Dubai.

'Many German companies are unaware of the great economic atmosphere prevailing in the UAE, as well as the great opportunities, products and services provided here which would fulfill the needs of the perspective German investors,' commented Dr Freidrich, the Director of the German Commercial and Industrial Office in Dubai.

The forum has seven subjects for discussions: healthcare & medical services, information technology & media, tourism and hospitality, banking and financial services, industrial development and the transfer of technology, real estate, construction & infrastructure, transport & logistics and guidelines and how to do business.

'A very important exhibition is also being held in conjunction with this forum, showcasing the products and services of some of Dubai's biggest organizations from both the public and private sectors,' said Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Banna, the Deputy Director General of the Dubai Chamber.

He added, 'This is a very important event along side the forum, as it will showcase Dubai's capabilities which many German companies are unaware of'. The exhibition will occupy an area of 1500 sq meters, but can be expanded according to the level of participation. To date, over 600 German delegates have confirmed registration, and this number is expected to rise further.

Some of the exhibitors already enlisted are: Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Dubai Municipality, represented by the Assistant Director General Muttar Al Tayer, Dubai Development and Investment Authority represented by the Director of Operations, Kalid Malik, Ports, Customs and Free zone Corporation, represented by Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Department of Health & Medical Services in Dubai, represented by Qadhi Al Murooshid, and the University Hospital Freiburg, represented by Prof. Dr. Klaus Geiger.

Also attending are the Belhoul Group, Dubai Lands Department, National Bank of Dubai, Dubai Airport Free Zone, Nakheel, represented by Wahid Attalla, Emaar, represented by Director of Sales & Marketing, Mansour Al Othaimin, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai Metals and Commodities Centre, represented by Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Emirates Airline, Dubai Aid City, represented Walid Harab, and a group of Lawyers which include some of the top German lawyers practicing in Dubai.
