LG Electronics 'Hurricane' revolutionizes plasma screen viewing
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, May 23 - 2004 at 16:10
- PRESS RELEASE
Global consumer electronics and digital leader LG Electronics has unveiled a revolutionary new addition to its plasma screen portfolio.
The Hurricane boasts a duel screen display, powered by two independent TV tuners, allowing for two television channels to be viewed at once. It also has ingenious built-in speakers.
Viewers can also enjoy picture-in-picture (PIP) and picture-out-picture (POP) modes, which allow channels to be surfed within another screen.
Attending today's Hurricane press conference, Mr P.C Choi, President of LG Electronics Gulf FZE, said: "When introduced, plasma screens were mainly used as display devices in public places. They then became an important part of home theatre entertainment. With the Hurricane, we have a total solution offering a combination of superb television and home theatre. Once again, LG is driving and developing the plasma display market."
Set, as its name would suggest, to take the region by storm, the Hurricane also features LG's pioneering XD™ Engine, a digital TV (DTV) real-image picture-enhancing chip, and DCDi (Directional Correlation Deinterlacing) Technology for processing video, making for optimum colour and image clarity.
LG's advanced technology means the Hurricane tops its class with a contrast ratio of 3000:1, and a brightness level of 1,200 candela per square metre.
With today's launch, LG Electronics' engineers have set a new standard for plasma screen life. The Hurricane offers an astonishing 60,000 hours of viewing, a huge increase on the standard 20,000 hours, and viewers can enjoy their LG plasma screen even longer with only slight deterioration in brightness levels.
"From the start, LG plasma screens have surpassed expectations, and the Hurricane is no exception," said Mr Abdul Jabbar Al Sayegh, Chairman of Al Sayegh Brothers Trading, LG's UAE digital products partner. "LG works tirelessly to satisfy customer demand for innovation, choice and quality, as the new Hurricane clearly illustrates. At Al Sayegh Brothers, we promise a level of customer service to match LG's exceptional products."
