His Excellency Mr Hutton was accompanied by Mr Fouad Soueid, Senior Commercial Officer at the Embassy of Canada in Abu Dhabi.
The Ambassador and Hisham Amili, Regional Sales Director for Mitel, discussed business developments and issues within the telecommunications industry and Mitel's position in the market. Amongst other topics the recent completion of a $135-million Mitel financing deal to support the activities related to VoiP growth were discussed.
"A recent Synergy Market Research Inc Report conducted in February 2004, ranked Mitel number four in the world market share for Enterprise IP Telephony Ports, holding 10% of the total worldwide market share, and more than half of its sales in the recent quarter were generated by VoIP products;" explained Amili.
The Ambassador stated "Mitel has a very strong presence worldwide and in the Middle East and we are looking forward to developing our relationship to support their growth in the region".
