- PRESS RELEASE
Emirates Post yesterday unveiled the Postcard Millionaire Campaign, a unique initiative that offers everyone the chance to win with the purchase of a pack of postcards.
'For the past three years, Emirates Post has offered residents and visitors in the UAE the chance to win with postcards. This year's campaign, however, distinguishes itself by the sheer magnitude of the offering', said Mr. Abdulla Al Daboos, Director General of Emirates Post. In addition to the cash prizes, there are also eight Mercedes ML 350 and a host of 'Scratch and Win' prizes to be won. "With more prizes and a greater amount to be won, we are sure that the Postcard Millionaire Campaign will touch many lives and change a few," he said.
The postcards will be available in a pack of four, featuring either UAE landmarks, sports, people or the national heritage and have been specially selected with the aim of giving people in different parts of the world a glimpse of UAE heritage and culture through the postcards. Priced at AED 30, each pack guarantees the customer a prize. Further, in order to ensure that customers get value for money, all postcards in the pack are postage paid - all one has to do is inscribe a message and drop it in the post box to anywhere in the world.
"In these days of instant messaging, most people miss out on the excitement of receiving greetings via the post. I hope this campaign will bring back the charm of receiving mail in the traditional manner," Mr. Al Daboos said.
Each pack of postcards will contain a coupon in two parts. The first part of the coupon is a Scratch & Win portion where the customer can win instantly. Cash prizes won through the Scratch & Win can be redeemed at the point of sale or the main Emirates Post offices. Other Scratch & Win prizes can be collected directly from the relevant sponsor outlets. With the second part, the coupon holder is automatically entered into the prize draws.
A comprehensive distribution network has been established to ensure that people all over the country have the opportunity to participate, said Aldrin Fernandes, Managing Director, Concept Today, the sole distribution and marketing agency for the Postcard Millionaire Campaign.
"The UAE is a land of opportunity and we are extremely pleased to be part of a campaign which gives people the opportunity to change their lives. Our aim during the course of the campaign is to make sure everyone is aware of the campaign and has access to the postcards. We presently have 800 distribution points nationwide and plan to increase this to 1,500 over the next two months," he said.
The postcards will be available at all Emirates Post offices and through its sister company, Empost, and Emarat and ADNOC petrol stations. The postcards will also be widely available through companies such as the Al Safeer Group, UCF-Kodak stores, and at all sponsors' retail outlets. Cellucom-Nokia, JVC-Oasis Enterprises, Burger King and Wild Wadi are the sponsors of the Postcard Millionaire Campaign. Arabian Radio Network and Pehla are the media sponsors.
A website has been created to enable UAE residents and tourists to acquire information on the results of the draws and postcard distribution points, and can also be used to buy the postcards. In addition, the site allows people to offer their suggestions and complaints. A helpline in five languages will also be available after the launch.
