Tasjeel, the highly successful vehicle test and registration service launched jointly by Emirates Petroleum Products Company (EPPCO) LLC and Dubai Police, is now set to enter Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, under Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) LLC branding.

Speaking at the Automechanika Gulf Academy, being staged as part of Automechanika Gulf, the Middle East's leading automotive aftermarket event, being staged at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Tasjeel Manager, Ayas Bin Hendi said new sites and system enhancements are in the pipeline.

"Tasjeel is now slated to open two new sites in Sharjah, in conjunction with Sharjah Traffic Police, and plans to have one or two test bay sites in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah," he said.

Bin Hendi also outlined plans for a new Tasjeel Plus system enhancement programme aimed at delivering faster and simpler vehicle testing and registration processes.

"Under the programme, single counters in the waiting halls will handle all transactions, including receipt of traffic fines and the issuance of registration cards and new number plates," he said.

"Customers will be able to complete all their various auto-related requirements at Tasjeel itself without leaving the premises. They can also book their appointments on-line giving all their details in advance and so, saving waiting time."

Since its launch in 1999, Tasjeel now operates five sites in Dubai between Al Ghusais and Jebel Ali Free Zone, with a total of 30 test lanes, and employs over 127 people. On behalf of Dubai Municipality it also recently began safety testing of the "Abra" water taxis which ply Dubai Creek.
