Jordan gears up to welcome the world

Final preparations are underway for the Global Village, Amman 2004, one of the most spectacular family attractions in the Middle East.

Built on 120,000 sqm in Marj Al Hamam, a 15 minute drive from the heart of Amman, and scheduled to open its doors for its guests from the 15th of July to 15th of August 2004.

"The Global Village Amman 2004, aims to promote Jordan as a leading family entertainment center within the Middle East. This exciting project is bound to contribute toward boosting tourism in Jordan," said Marwan Khoury, Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board.

Over 24 pavilions representing Bahrain, Brazil, Czech Republic, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, China, Philippines, Russia, Sudan, Syria, Thailand, Tunis, Turkey, UAE, Vietnam, Yemen and Kenya will exhibit their traditional art, handicrafts and national products, as well as dazzle visitors with their folklore performances.

Jordan will also mount a large pavilion displaying national products in addition to pavilions for the Aqaba Special Economic Zone, the Jordan Export Development and Jordan Investment Board.

"We have received an enthusiastic response from different international and regional communities, which illustrates that the Global Village Amman 2004 will truly be a meeting point for cultures", he added.

The Global Village, Amman 2004 will also feature a large theatre - seating 4,000 visitors - dedicated to plays from local troupes and other participating countries, a giant Fun Fair and play ground facilities which will offer kids different exciting games and rides, as well as a variety of restaurants and cafes.

"Working around the clock, the project managers are also implementing plans that will ease the traffic situation from the entrance and the parking areas as well. Other services offered to visitors will include public transportation, banks, ATMs, vending machines as well as clinics ," he stressed.

The Global Village, Amman 2004 is sure to provide hours of fun and entertainment to each and every visitor of all ages. Options are plenty, with all kinds of entertainment, food, shopping and exhibitions.
