- PRESS RELEASE
The world's largest LCD monitor, the world's fastest DVD RAM and innovative digital imaging solutions, all from Samsung Electronics, were displayed for the first time to a group of the company's business partners from the Middle East who attended 'The Samsung Middle East IT distributor summit' in Seoul, Korea.
"The summit was a great opportunity for our business partners in the Middle East to consolidate their knowledge of Samsung, increase their in-depth knowledge of our research and development investments and focus areas, as well as familiarise themselves with the new Information Technology products planned for launch for the rest of 2004," said Mr. Taeho Roh, General Manager, Samsung Gulf Electronics.
Chief IT products showcased were the world's largest 40-inch LCD monitor - specially designed to deliver an optimal and effective display solution - and an extensive line-up of multi-function monitors to combine TV functionality, which provided business partners a first hand experience of Samsung's core competencies and strong research and technology expertise.
In 2003, Samsung consolidated its position as the number one manufacturer of LCD monitors, with a market share of over 35 per cent in the region. The year also saw the launch of the Samsung range of high-end monitors including the region's largest 40-inch monitor and new multi-function monitors, which add new features and functionality to its LCD monitor line, including better response time and built-in, easier-to-use calibration software to control display features.
In the digital imaging solutions category, business partners were familiarised with the company's advanced multi-function devices (MFDs) and a new range of high-end laser and colour printer models.
Mr. K. S. Vasudevan, Senior Manager, Digital Information Technology division, Samsung Gulf Electronics said: "In the digital imaging solutions category, we have a very strong product - multi-functional device, MFD-SCX4016, that has gained high acceptability within the regional market. Currently Samsung offers one of the fastest range of laser printer models in the region and in 2004, we plan to further strengthen our market position by introducing advanced multi-functional devices and a new range of high-end colour laser printer models." "Our solution centric approach in the imaging industry has been well received across key markets," Mr. Vasudevan added.
Business partners attending the summit were also introduced to Samsung's upcoming optical disk drives. The company estimates that part of its business growth this year will also be fuelled by the introduction of new optical disk drives, including the world's fastest 16X DVD RAM that promises speedier data processing and thereby will give a huge boost to the adoption of business-efficiency enhancing optical technologies in the future.
"Through a combination of heavy investment, unrivalled technology, speedy manufacturing and smart product launches, Samsung is positioned to remain the region's leading manufacturer of IT products for years to come," Mr. Vasudevan concluded.
