Held from 23rd to 27th May at the Emirates Aviation College, the course was hosted by Emirates' Group Security department, under the auspices of the new Transguard Education Academy, and dealt with new and emerging threats against civil aviation.

Attending the course were security and aviation personnel of the WFP which operates a large fleet of aircraft ranging from twin-engine to wide-body planes.

The course was the first of its kind in Dubai, in co-operation with the Regional Aviation Security Training Centre of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), based in Jordan's capital, Amman, in the Centre for Aviation Security and Safety (JCASS) at Queen Noor's Civil Aviation College.

Emirates' Group Security Senior Vice President, Dr. Abdulla Al Hashimi, commented: "We are pleased to be chosen to host this training for an agency of the United Nations and gratified that our reputation in aviation training is a major deciding factor for the training to be held here.

"This training course is the first of many, similar courses that will be organised here at our Transguard Education Academy in co-operation with ICAO."

Training was conducted by professionals from Aerospace Services International (ASI) at the Emirates Aviation College, close to Dubai International Airport.

The participants received certificates from ICAO as well as Transguard Education Academy and Edith Cowan University of Adelaide, Western Australia. As this is an accredited training programme by the university, the participants earned 15 credit points in a graduate programme in Security Management.
