Comtrust, as Wafi Group's hosting partner, will provide the hosting environment and Internet connectivity necessary for the Group to communicate and share information, critical to the Group's projects, with its global network of architects and consultants.

'Comtrust's job is to ensure the engine room running Wafi Group's 'virtual forum' is functioning as required,' said Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, Comtrust's General Manager. 'The unit will monitor and maintain the FTTP server and other associated e-infrastructure upon which Wafi Group's solution is built.'

The Group believes this 'virtual work forum' will result in a more effective and efficient creative process by allowing seamless and timeless interaction between involved parties, despite differences in location and time zones, and will ultimately save a great deal of time in the execution of the project.

'Currently we are working with a number of architects and other specialists worldwide. The challenges of geography and time has led us to develop an e-solution that enables all parties involved with the project to share plans, blueprints and other working documents regardless of time and place,' explained the Group's IT Director, David Watt.

According to Watt, the move is part of the Wafi Group's strategy to exploit technology as it strives to maintain the competitive edge it has hard won in recent years. 'As a group we have worked hard to build Wafi City into what it is today. It is no secret that we are currently undertaking a new project of considerable scope at Wafi City and that it will help Wafi Group maintain its position as the pre-eminent leisure experience within the UAE.'

Commenting on the new relationship Julfar said, 'Having been a part of the e-business landscape in the UAE since the beginning, Comtrust has found itself involved in the development and implementation of ever more sophisticated e-solutions. Wafi Group's e-project is an example of the growing trend within UAE businesses to use Internet related technologies to underpin and enhance the operational processes undertaken by organisations.'

'This is a trend that will continue to develop as no other medium provides the scope or scale to match the Internet as a communication tool,' concluded Julfar.
