H.E. Abdul Rahman Al Baqer, Deputy General Manager of the GPSSA said: "The main purpose of the seminar is to provide UAE nationals working for Etisalat with a clear understanding of the various aspects of GPSSA and the Federal Law for pensions and social security."

Speaking before an audience of 65 nationals, Mr. Al Baqer said: "We have come a long way since 1999, when the law successfully devised a system that provides social security benefits to UAE nationals working for the private and public sectors in the UAE. In addition to securing a stable financial future for the GPASSA members and their families, it also yields a positive impact on their professional performance and social well-being. The telecommunications sector has succeeded to attract more nationals than most others. With a solid pensions and social security system we hope to build on, and strengthen, Etisalat's success in its Emiratization efforts."

Al Baqer highlighted the regulation subsequent to cases of death or retirement. He also pinpointed the different systemized procedures that will allow Pensioners to receive their funds with the least amount of delay. The importance of these processes is crucial to the comfort of the Pensioner.

He also explained the technology involved in the contributor's registration of funds at GPSSA. He illustrated the systems implemented to determine the duration of employment and the policies involved in computing the contributor's funds.

Mr. Al Baqer presented to the audience the Pensions Law focusing on the many benefits it brings the members of the GPSSA and their families. The UAE pensions Law is a unified Federal system that covers UAE nationals working for both the public and private sectors.
