German leader in city malls now in Qatar

Qatar has signed a management deal with Germany's leading shopping mall operator ECE.

Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani and Sons Holding Company has signed a long-term management agreement for City Center Dohar with Einkaufs-Center-Entwicklung, the European market leader in inner city shopping centres based in Hamburg.

The agreement, signed in Hamburg, is the first of its kind in the Middle East. FBQC has decided to contract a specialised company to operate City Center, manage space and changes in tenant mix and maintain a supply of retail anchors that is in the line with shifting market demand.

ECE currently manages 74 shopping centers in addition to another 12 shopping centers in the design or construction phases in Germany, Poland, Turkey and Hungary.
