  • PRESS RELEASE

Emirates has again shown its commitment to facilitating professional training within the Gulf region with the hosting of the first graduation ceremony of the Emirates Corporate Consortium MBA.

Run by the University of Bradford's School of Management, the MBA programme was successfully completed by Emirates staff members, plus personnel from 10 top Gulf companies.

Emirates' Chairman, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, presented the graduates with their degrees in a ceremony at the auditorium of the Emirates Aviation College, with the University of Bradford's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chris Taylor.

In his address, Dermot Mannion, Emirates' President Group Support Services, said: "Emirates initiated the executive MBA programme for staff over five years ago. We later opened it up to other organisations to give it a wider business perspective. We now have 10 companies in the Corporate Consortium MBA and it is an outstanding success.

"I congratulate the graduates, and I thank their families for their sacrifice and support."

In addition to Emirates, companies sponsoring their personnel in the Corporate Consortium MBA include ABN AMRO Bank, Department of Civil Aviation-Dubai, Dubai Technology, Electronic Commerce and Media Free Zone (TECOM), Emirates Bank International, Emirates Flight Catering, ENOC/EPPCO, ITS (Kuwait), MTC (Kuwait), National Bank of Dubai and Siemens AG.

Professor Chris Taylor commented: "The support of Emirates and the other members of the Corporate Consortium MBA for the development of their staff is a great investment in the future. It also demonstrates their commitment to excellence in customer service."

About the Corporate Consortium MBA
The part-time course, held at the Emirates Aviation College over a two-year period, consists of 13 taught modules, 12 of them assessed, and a management project which is a substantial piece of individual research.
Two cohorts of 25 each have already graduated from the programme. With this, the third cohort to graduate, the fourth and fifth cohorts are currently taking the course, and students are being recruited for the sixth cohort, due to start this October.

About the University of Bradford
The University of Bradford received its Royal Charter in 1966 but can trace its early roots back to 1832, with the formation of the Mechanics Institute. The School of Management is widely recognised as one of Europe's leading full-service business schools, holding the EQUIS accreditation from the European Foundation for Management Development as an indicator of teaching quality, as well as having AMBA accreditation of its full portfolio of MBA programmes.

The Executive MBA programmes run both by the School of Management directly and by its associate institute NIMBAS were again last year placed in the Financial Times' top 75 programmes in the world and in the top twenty in Europe.
