- PRESS RELEASE
Paramount Computer Systems, a leading DIC based Internet Security provider, announced today the signing of a partnership agreement with Websense Inc., appointing Paramount Computer Systems as value added distributor for Websense across the Middle East region.
"Our partnership with Websense marks a huge step forward in realizing our mission to become the leading Internet Security Solutions provider in the Middle East," commented Harish Kunnath, managing director, Paramount Computer Systems. "The Internet is today's ultimate business tool, yet it could lead to huge losses of productivity in all companies, large or small. Businesses today need to ensure that the time spent by employees online is used effectively, and to the company's benefit. This is exactly what Websense's Employee Internet Management solution allows them to do, it is a very powerful tool for administration and reporting in the hand of mangers and Human Resources departments."
Research has shown that employees with Internet access on the job tend to focus less on work when there is so much online to compete for their attention. According to a survey by International Data Corp (IDC), 30 to 40% of internet access is spent on non work related browsing, and a staggering 60% of all online purchases are made during working hours.
Another survey conducted for Websense Inc. by Taylor Nelson Sofres, the fourth biggest research company in the world, found that nearly 90 percent of employees feel the Internet can be addictive, and 41 percent admit to personal surfing at work for more than three hours per week.
"The decision to choose Paramount Computer Systems as our Value Added Distributor was very straight forward. We opted to work with Paramount in the region because of their strong track record in providing Internet security solutions and their expertise and support capabilities," added Geoff Haggart, Vice President, Websense International. "Our Employee Internet Management solution, Websense Enterprise, provides businesses, government bodies and educational organizations in the region with a flexible and reliable tool to manage Internet use across their entire organisation. The result is improved productivity, and better use of network resources, such as bandwidth and storage."
This partnership with Websense, marks a further addition to Paramount's impressive 'blue chip' partnerships in the area of e-security, including ISS, RSA Security, Trend Micro and Stonesoft. As a server-based software solution, Websense allows government organizations, educational institutions and corporate entities that are concerned about their employee's internet usage to transparently manage and report traffic flowing from the internal networks to the Internet.
"Our aim is to provide added value for our customers in the region through the adoption of leading edge technology and contemporary management practices. Our collaboration with Websense, allows us to cater to the increasingly sophisticated needs of businesses in the region as they seek to stay on par with developments taking place in the area of Internet usage and related issues," concluded Kunnath.
