Paramount slashes Internet abuse

This new partnership brings the world's leading Employee Internet Management solution to businesses in the region, providing them with a means to effectively manage employees' use of the net. The announcement was made during the Middle East IT Security Conference, MEITSEC, with Websense participating in the workshops held at the Etisalat Academy in Dubai.

Research has shown that employees with Internet access on the job tend to focus less on work when there is so much online to compete for their attention. According to a survey by International Data Corp (IDC), 30 to 40% of internet access is spent on non work related browsing, and a staggering 60% of all online purchases are made during working hours.

Another survey conducted for Websense Inc. by Taylor Nelson Sofres, the fourth biggest research company in the world, found that nearly 90 percent of employees feel the Internet can be addictive, and 41 percent admit to personal surfing at work for more than three hours per week.
