"Vendors not just introduce new products but also bring new technology to the forefront, giving our partners a wide range of products to suit the needs of their customers," pointed Keith Rich, MD, OnLine Distribution. To support the new technologies and products, OnLine holds regular training and product update sessions for its channel partners through workshops, seminars and informal meetings.

Symbol's MC9000-S and MC9000-K
Powered by Windows Mobile 2003 or CE.Net, Symbol's new innovative mobile computing products, MC9000-S and MC9000-K, boast seamless Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, CDMA and GSM/GPRS Wireless Networking. It is designed to help enterprises increase inventory velocity, enhance employee productivity, improve customer service and maintain real-time connectivity to information for updates while on the road and in the field.
These capabilities will help strengthen customer service and sales for beverage and snack route delivery people, improve site visits for service and repair technicians and improve pick-up and delivery activities for parcel post and delivery drivers, among others.

"The new products have integrated advanced mobile technology to help customers quickly deploy a solution that translates into immediate productivity gains and rapid return-on-investment," said Venu Menon, divisional director for the Auto ID division, OnLine's business unit responsible for the Symbol & Zebra wireless range of products. "Our customers, especially in the transportation and logistics market, need a compact, rugged computer with multiple wireless technologies to make their employees more productive and improve business operations."

These Symbol mobile computers follow the successful introduction of the Symbol MC9000-G, a grip/handle-based mobile computer introduced in October 2003, as part of Symbol's industrial mobile computing line.

3Com ADSL Wireless 11g Firewall Router
The new 3Com ADSL Wireless 11g Firewall Router combines an ADSL modem, router, 802.11g wireless access point, four-port switch, and firewall to enable up to a total of 253 wired (128 wireless) users to economically and securely share a single ADSL connection. The high-speed routing engine easily handles large data transfers and Internet downloads, including those from multimedia applications.

"The 3Com 11g ADSL router provides a high-speed, 54 Mbps wireless connection for users with 802.11g-equipped PCs and laptops," said K. Ganesan, divisional director for the Enterprise business unit at OnLine. "It is also backward-compatible with 802.11b wireless LAN equipment, preserving existing network investments. And the Wi-Fi compatible router interoperates with Wi-Fi-certified products from other vendors."

Advanced wireless security and multiple firewall features offer one of the industry's strongest levels of protection for the network. To shield wireless connections, the 11g gateway router implements 256-bit WPA encryption for maximum security, along with 40/64- & 128-bit WEP encryption for legacy clients.

3Com Security Switch 6200
The revolutionary 3Com Security Switch 6200 delivers a score of security services for a fraction of the cost of purchasing these disparate capabilities separately. Ideal for large enterprise deployments, such as regional- or head-office networks and data centres, it supports a wide range of robust, third-party security applications. Without compromising protection, performance, or availability, this integrated security services switch platform delivers significant savings over multiple-appliance, load-balanced solutions.

"With this new class of enterprise security solution, firewalls, VPNs, content and spam filters, antivirus scanners, IDS, and intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and more can be seamlessly consolidated onto one centrally managed, load-balanced, high-capacity platform," pointed out Ganesan. "IT managers can purchase only those capabilities needed to defend against specific vulnerabilities or deploy multiple layers of security to safeguard against today's sophisticated, blended threats."

Avocent DSR 1021 KVM switch
The Avocent DSR 1021 KVM switch is specifically designed for IT administrators who need to easily troubleshoot, reboot or even power cycle servers or serial devices in branch offices, avoiding the need for costly on-site service calls. The 8-port DSR1021 switch expands the Avocent DS Series patented, field-proven KVM over IP technology. The DSR1021 switch includes external modem support, so IT administrators can manage remote devices if the network is down.

The DSR1021 appliance is managed by Avocent's DSView software, the networking industry's most secure and reliable centralized software management system. DSView provides secure KVM over IP access and control anywhere, anytime. With it, IT administrators can access a branch office's servers, routers, DSUs and switches from any location - even over a Web browser. DSView software enables administrators to manage remote servers and VT100 network devices with the same interface they use to manage their data centre devices.

Zebra XML-Enabled Thermal Bar Code Label XiIIIPlus Printers
Zebra's XML-enabled printers were developed in collaboration with Oracle to allow printing directly from Oracle's Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Mobile Supply Chain Applications (MSCA), however, they also can be integrated with a variety of enterprise systems with minimal customization. Zebra Extensible Markup Language (XML)-enabled printers are the only Oracle-certified WMS/MSCA printer hardware solution available today.

XML-enabled XiIIIPlus high performance printers from Zebra are designed for open-standards flexibility and to simplify speed integration of bar code label printing into many of today's leading supply chain management and manufacturing system applications.

Transition's Focal Point 2.0 SNMP software
Focal Point 2.0, SNMP software management platform, is designed to offer full SNMP read/write management capabilities via a user friendly graphical user interface (GUI). Users who already use other management platforms such as HPOV or Cisco Works can also manage Transition Networks' converters with Focal Point 2.0 used as Plug-in within HPOV or Cisco Works.

Focal Point 2.0 has several new unique features to simplify network administration. The new features include Universal Trap Viewer that allows viewers to receive all traps, including traps from third party devices, on the network. Service providers can utilize the RMON tools compatible with JDBC database. Other features include One-click-telnet, Upgrade tool, live chat with Transition Networks Tech support personnel and direct links to product literature such as datasheets, manuals and release notes. Focal Point 2.0 software allows the user to enable and disable features incorporated into each of the media converter modules.

Its newly designed screens are very intuitive, and easy to navigate. Customers can now navigate between multiple agents from within one screen and switch between chassis cabinets through the drop down menu. The Focal Point 2.0 has two types of views: a summary screen, that reports the converter's link status and its critical features, and a detailed screen that brings up everything about the particular device. These views provide quick access to network management.

All the new products are available immediately from OnLine and its channel partner network throughout the region.
