- PRESS RELEASE
Emirates Internet and Multimedia (EIM), the ISP business unit of Etisalat, announced that its Mail Service subscribers will no longer receive virus cleaning alert messages which was sent automatically by the EIM Mail Anti Virus Service whenever an inbound virus infected email was targeting one of its mail subscribers.
From now on, Virus infected emails sent to EIM mail subscribers will be discarded automatically by the EIM Mail Anti Virus service.
Alternatively, subscribers can enable receiving these alert messages by visiting the dedicated web page and select the "Enable/Disable alerts" button. Those who wish to receive these alerts, to know the amount of the cleaned infected messages sent to them, but discard them afterwards can build their own filter mechanism to direct them to the trash folder, which is emptied automatically after seven days.
"Virus cleaning alert messages cause annoyance to subscribers during virus outbreaks," said Abdulla Hashim, Senior Manager Business Development & Marketing, EIM. "This was a real panic to them specially during the outbreak of Netsky and MyDoom viruses in the last couple of months. Cessation of these messages by default while offering subscribers with the two other options is the ideal solution for them. EIM's option-based customer services truly reflect its solid tradition to maximize utilization of the world class technology to provide pleasant experience and piece of mind to our valued subscribers."
