The British University in Dubai and its British partner universities will host 'Open Days'

The British University in Dubai (BUiD), a unique research-based university offering Masters degree programmes in Informatics, Education and Engineering (Project Management) will host 'Open Days' in Dubai and Abu Dhabi from Friday, June 11 to Sunday June 13, 2004.

BUiD is hosting the event jointly with its British partners - The Universities of Edinburgh and Birmingham and The University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST).

The Open Days will be held at the Novotel in Dubai on Friday, June 11 from 4 pm to 7:30 pm and Saturday June 12 from 9 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 9 pm. The event will then move to the Beach Rotana in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, June 13 from 10 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 9 pm.

BUiD and its British partners have organised the event, in advance of the start of the University's full- and part-time Masters programmes in September 2004, in order to give UAE residents more insight into its courses. BUiD staff, along with senior member of its British partner universities will conduct a series of 20-minute presentation of the core programmes, answer questions and provide registration details.

"This will be a very informative event and I encourage anyone interested in pursuing a Masters degree now or in the future to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about our University," said David J. Lock, Acting Registrar and CEO, The British University in Dubai. "BUiD is an exciting addition to the educational landscape of the Gulf region, bringing the best in British education to the Middle East."

According to Mr. Lock, BUiD's 'Open Days' will give the University an opportunity to showcase its unique offerings. Moreover, the event will provide the public with a chance to meet the academic staff, ask questions and learn more about the advantages of studying at BUiD.

The university is managed by a provisional council under the chairmanship of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
