Trend Micro increases investment in Middle East

  • PRESS RELEASE

Trend Micro, (TSE: 4704, NASDAQ: TMIC), a leader in network antivirus and Internet content security software and services, announced today it is increasing its presence in the Middle East by establishing an on-site training centre and dedicated demonstration laboratory.

As part of Trend Micro's regional expansion plan, the company is doubling its office space at Dubai Internet City (DIC) to facilitate the new educational services. Trend Micro's regional headquarters have been based at DIC since early 2002.

Strong business growth in the region encouraged the company to increase its presence in the Middle East. "Trend Micro's revenues, generated from our Dubai office, grew by more than 60 percent from the beginning of 2003 to the start of 2004," said Justin Doo, Managing Director of Trend Micro in the Middle East and Africa region.

"Trend Micro's success in the region has grown because of the reliability of our products and the firm relationships we have with our channel partners. Investing in this new on-site training centre enables us to further enhance our partnerships. We are pleased to be providing our partners with the highest standard of technical resources," said Doo.

At Trend Micro's on-site training centre, the company will provide in-depth analysis sessions for reseller partners to get acquainted with the latest releases of Trend Micro products. With training sessions hosted by Trend Micro experts, reseller partners will be able to explore the latest technology to get a thorough understanding of products. As part of the training centre's services, customer certification courses will also be conducted.

Trend Micro's dedicated demonstration laboratory will further support the company's reseller partners in the Middle East. "At the demonstration centre, reseller partners can bring along potential customers to see Trend Micro's solutions running live," said Doo. "By testing a solution before paying for it, would-be customers can have peace-of-mind about their investment with Trend Micro."

Trend Micro anticipates healthy revenue growth in 2004 with the recent introduction of products for the small and medium size business (SMB) market. InterScan™ VirusWall for SMB, Client Server Messaging Suite for SMB and Client Server Suite for SMB fill the gap in what was seen to be a neglected market area. Trend Micro is the first Internet security company to really target the Middle East's SMB market.

"Small and medium businesses are vulnerable to the same security problems as enterprises, but often do not have the staff and technical resources to mount effective protection strategies," said Doo. "Up until now, many of the Middle East's 30,000 or so SMB organizations have been unwilling to buy a comprehensive virus protection solution because of the lack of product tailored to meet their needs."

The Trend Micro SMB range is an advanced portfolio of integrated antivirus and anti-spam products designed with SMB organizations in mind. The Trend Micro SMB solutions offer comprehensive protection at every level, from the server to individual workstations, examining data before it reaches the network.
