Dubai TV unveils programmes lined up during Dubai Summer Surprises 2004

Dubai TV, one of the leading channels in the UAE, has announced the schedule of programmes planned during the seventh edition of Dubai Summer Surprises, which gets under way on June 17, 2004.
Abdullatif Al Gergawi, Head of the Dubai TV Committee, which is part of the DSS Organising Committee, said that it has been the constant endeavour of Dubai TV to play a major role during DSS, the event which incorporates a wide array of activities covering all the unique aspects of Dubai and touching every member of the community, irrespective of their age-groups or nationalities.
He said that in view of the huge success and the extraordinary results that DSS has achieved over the past six years, and the last year in particular, the Dubai TV decided to come up with special programmes to further build the excitement. The programmes will receive a huge audience, primarily in view of the aggressive advertising and marketing campaigns as also its content, which has been tailored for every member of the family. These programmes will be telecast every day during the 10-week extravaganza, Mr. Al Gergawi added.
He said the Dubai TV will also telecast live the draws of the Grand Summer Raffle every Friday. He added that the programme Masa Al Khair Ya Dubai (Good Evening Dubai) is also staging a comeback during DSS, with a lot of new aspects showcasing the event theme - Big Fun for Little Ones, coupled with reports about Dubai's advancements as also the various activities of the 10-week event.
"Among the prominent programmes which were a major hit last year, the Dubai TV is proud to unveil the Al Meqeeth, the heritage show for the second year in succession. The one-hour programme, which will be telecast twice a week, will be on air from June 19. The show, which was received very well by audience from the UAE and the Gulf states, highlights the lives of the people and the local heritage. The programme has been spruced up and will be more informative and entertaining this year," Mr. Al Gergawi said.
The show basically provides insights into the heritage, lifestyles of the past generations, civilisations as also the cultural facets of the UAE community.
Another programme Summer and Surprises will also be aired live from Hamarain Centre, Mr. Al Gergawi said, adding that the show will encompass various competitions, games, surprises, which will add to the fun and excitement during DSS.
He also announced a chain of other programmes primarily targeted at the children from the various event-sites, which include the Modhesh Fun City and the Surprises Island. Some of these programmes are Modhesh Summer, Modhesh Surprises, which will involve adult and child presenters. Also on offer is a programme titled We All Love Dubai, which will talk about the families visiting Dubai during the 10 weeks of fun and excitement.
Dubai Summer Surprises 2004 will begin with Arts Surprises presented by Department of Naturalisation and Residency in Dubai from June 17-23, followed by Ice Surprises by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority from June 24-30, Sweets Surprises by Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing from July 1-7, Cartoon Surprises by Dubai Ports Authority from July 8-14, Flower Surprises by Dubai Municipality from July 15-21, Heritage Surprises by Dubai Customs from July 22-28, Adventure Surprises by Dubai Police from July 29-August 4, Knowledge Surprises by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry from August 5-11, Back-2-School Surprises by the Department of Economic Development from August 12-18 and ends with the Colour Surprises by the Department of Health and Medical Sciences from August 19- 27, 2004.
