- PRESS RELEASE
In keeping with its vision of integrating individually automated government departments under the single umbrella of the e-government portal, Dubai e-Government recently conducted a comprehensive four-day training workshop for all the government departments in order to acquaint them with the technical aspect of the content management system.
"Dubai e-Government aims to facilitate the lives of its citizens by providing an entire gamut of online services. Intensive training has to be imparted to each and every government department in order to jump start the system of offering a wide range of governmental services online," said Salem Al Shair, Director, e-Services Dubai e-Government. "This will provide an impetus to our vision of integrating a wide range of government services in Dubai through a single electronic gateway that will align and enable all the government departments to unify their services," he added.
"The software utilized for the content management system will be used to update our content on the Dubai e-Government portal, " said Subhi Yaghmour, Systems Analyst, Al Awqaf, a participant at the workshop. "For the last nine months we have been working in tandem with Dubai e-Government in order to integrate our content with www.dubai.ae. Dubai e-Government has given us a detailed plan outlining the methodology of displaying the content on the portal," he added.
"This workshop provided various departments with the technical know how and expertise in publishing their content on the portal as well as maintaining a strong web presence. Every government department is connected to a single network called the Government Information Network (GIN), which provides network connectivity, inter-departmental connectivity as well as Internet access to and from the department. GIN will allow other government departments to access the e-Government server and utilize the content management software to publish their content," said Anas Haddad, Content Manger Dubai e-Government. "We are happy to provide assistance and support to the departments in facilitating this process. A centralized content management system is indeed vital to ensure that the services are merged on the e-Government portal www.dubai.ae, so as to enhance the level of efficacy," he added.
"The training session will ensure that all the departments can confidently make use of the system to the best advantage in publishing their content on the main e-Government portal," said Beesan Barghouti, Content Editor, English Dubai e-Government. "This will facilitate the smooth integration of the entire system which lends itself to the philosophy of the Dubai e-government," she added.
