U.S. Robotics to impart specialised training on wireless and broadband technology

  • United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, June 16 - 2004 at 13:25
  • PRESS RELEASE

U.S. Robotics, the leading provider of Internet connectivity solutions, has announced that it will organise a specialised training session on June 21, 2004 for its distributors and resellers in the UAE, with the objective of enhancing their technical support in the newly launched wireless and broadband products.

The day-long session will be a part of U.S. Robotics strategy to ensure complete customer support in both pre-sales and post-sales scenarios.

"As with any innovative technology, widespread adoption of wireless networking and broadband solutions can be encouraged through access to detailed and easy-to-understand information. U.S. Robotics has made a clear commitment to developing a product portfolio that is simple to install and use, even while harnessing advanced technologies for faster, more reliable and secure connectivity," said Yusuf Syed, Regional Manager Middle East, U.S. Robotics. "As a part of this commitment, U.S. Robotics invests regularly into clearly articulated training programmes that seek to develop the organisation's customer support resources."

The training, which will also include a hands-on workshop, will be conducted by Tony Field, EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) Product Manager for U.S. Robotics. Field will turn the spotlight on frequently asked technical questions and troubleshooting scenarios in the implementation of wireless networking and broadband products. He will also detail the technical aspects of secure wireless networking; a common concern of enterprises seeking to switch to such networks.

"Strategic Enterprise Computing demands networks that provide a high range and maximum throughput, even while ensuring the security of critical databases. Along with the lack of knowledge about the potential of wireless networking technology, concern about the security of information transmitted across the networks, is perhaps the crucial factor when deciding upon networking investments," explained Field. "With U.S. Robotics in the process of introducing advanced networking technologies in wireless networking, it becomes essential to update the technical information available to the company's distributor and reseller channel and thus provide enhanced support to the clients."

According to Field, amongst the issues that hinder the widespread adoption of wireless networking are concerns about the range of wireless networks; throughput limitations as compared to wired networking; the security of wireless networks; the security of business critical information; as well as uncertainties arising from lack of knowledge about networking technologies in general and wireless networking in particular. While addressing these concerns, reseller and distributors often need in-depth technical information about the possible range of various wireless networking options. They would also need to address the security concerns of current and potential customers with demonstrable product knowledge.

"With broadband becoming the norm in the region and Internet Service Providers ensuring increasingly higher speed connectivity, end-users looking for an ADSL modems need the right technical support to understand the benefits unique to each available option before making an investment," said Field. "U.S. Robotics is also committed to post-implementation technical support to its customers. The current training programme has been designed to equip the company's distributors and resellers with in-depth technical know-how to support its award-winning products, such as the Etisalat approved SureConnect ADSL Wireless Gateway."

The training programme will provide resellers and distributors with hands-on experience in the capacities of the U.S. Robotics' portfolio of broadband and wireless networking products, such as the recently introduced USR 8200 Firewall/VPN (Virtual Private Network)/NAS (Network Attached Storage) Router and the award-winning USR 9106 SureConnect ADSL Wireless Gateway, which has been localised with a Java based application called Easy Configurator for setting up UAE's Broadband configuration. The training will also seek to enhance channel knowledge about Firewalls and VPN for providing network security to U.S. Robotics' clients.

U.S. Robotics, which has a rich portfolio of broadband connectivity, wired and wireless networking, as well as its pioneering analogue connectivity products, invests regularly in training programmes for its channel. The company also has a sophisticated Value-Added-Reseller programme that supports the marketing efforts of its channel partners, while ensuring the profitability of both the partner and the customer.
