Abhi Jalan was previously the partner-in-charge of Jones Day's affiliate firm in Mumbai, India. He is qualified in England, India and Canada (Ontario) and has represented and advised Fortune 500 clients, Indian government entities and Indian business conglomerates. Abhi has extensive experience in cross-border corporate, banking, projects, Indian capital markets, privatization and public offerings.

Abhi Jalan joins forces with senior dispute resolution lawyer, Kaashif Basit, who was called to the Bar in England in 1994 and who recently relocated to MERO from Clyde & Co's London office.

Alec Emmerson, the Clyde & Co MERO partner managing its Indian subcontinent development said: "The relocation of Kaashif to Dubai and appointment of Abhi is part of Clyde & Co's project to expand its Indian subcontinent practice. India's continued economic progress means that there is a wealth of business opportunities and a demand for international legal services. Dubai is well located as a base from which to provide such services by virtue of its geographic proximity to the Indian subcontinent and its business connectivity with much of the world. The presence of Abhi and Kaashif, supported as appropriate by the large team of specialist lawyers that we have here already, enables the firm to advise foreign and local clients, having investment or business interests in the Indian subcontinent, and provide to companies and institutions from the Indian subcontinent, London and all major arbitration centers, an international dispute resolution service."
