AUD President appoints new Chief Academic Officer

Dr Lance De Masi, President of the American University in Dubai, has announced the appointment of Dr Jihad Nader as Provost/Chief Academic Officer.

"Dr. Nader's appointment responds to the growing need to provide AUD with academic leadership which is focused, top-flight and committed. His history at AUD reveals an understanding of the institution and a dedication to fulfilling its mission and goals; and in terms of caliber, we can all take pride in Dr. Nader's academic and professional preparation, productivity as a scholar and reputation as an excellent teacher, "said Dr. De Masi

Dr Nader has, in the past, contributed significantly to AUD through his positions as Dean of the School of Business Administration and Dean of The Center for Executive Programs and Professional Services (CEPPS).

Dr. Nader will head-up the Office of Academic Affairs, and will also serve as Acting Dean of the School of Business Administration. CEPPS will continue on its strategy of providing customized training and consultancy services, falling under the purviews of the Provost.

AUD's new Provost holds Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees from the American University of Beirut and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. Before accepting the position of Director of Studies in 1993 at the Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies, Dr. Nader held the position of Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs at Concordia University (Faculty of Commerce and Administration) in Montreal, Canada.

Mr. Elias Bou Saab, Vice President of AUD, said that in Dr Nader, the University has the ideal professional and academic authority who will enable it to pursue its expanding horizons."
