- PRESS RELEASE
More than 70 per cent of the state-of-the-art equipment for the Ajman sewerage project has been received by the Ajman Sewerage (Private) Company Limited.
Bob Taylor, General Manager of the company, said the equipment delivered so far includes pumps and fittings for pumping stations, fine screens, Submerged Aerated Filters, Deep Bed Gravity Filters, chlorine equipment, pipe work and sludge de-watering equipment and miscellaneous equipment.
He disclosed that the equipment now in Ajman constitutes 70 per cent of the overall equipment needed to operate the advanced system.
Mr. Taylor revealed that civil engineering construction work on the treatment plant at Al Jurf area and the two major pumping stations had almost been completed. He said remaining equipment would be fitted soon at these facilities.
Earlier, officials said some of the equipment needed for the operation of the sophisticated system had already arrived in Ajman. But more arrived in the last few weeks, affirming the initial forecasts of project completion as planned.
Officials said recently the remarkable achievement in many areas of Ajman had also been possible because property owners in the emirate saw for themselves the progress made in the execution of the project and the ongoing works that are witnessed all over the city.
The company in the last few months launched extensive campaigns to explain the health and environmental benefits of the project. Officials said the campaigns, with the backing of Ajman government, appeared to have achieved excellent success rates.
"The equipment has been imported from the UK, Germany, Turkey, India and Canada. Various items such as pipework, GRP fabrications and the Motor Control Centres (MCC's) were manufactured in the UAE", Mr. Taylor concluded.
