This is an early warning system that alerts the bank on potential frauds. This is one of the many steps that NBK has proactively taken to provide customers 'worry free' use of their credit card product especially when travelling.
Falcon Fraud Management System identifies payment-card accounts that are likely to be potential frauds. Falcon receives transaction data from external systems, applies neural-network models of fraudulent behaviour together with profiles of individual card use, and calculates a fraud score for each transaction.
Falcon may also create 'cases,' based on rules updated by the Fraud analysts. Analysts are able to review cases at Falcon Workstations, investigate them, and take appropriate action online real time.
When a transaction is initiated and it is sent to the host system for approval, the transaction is scored and checked against the established rules. If any of the thresholds are tripped or if the score generated has attributes of potential fraud, alert is generated by the system. This alert is online real time. The fraud analysts monitor the system 24 hours a day, review the alerts, contact the customer for confirmation if necessary and take appropriate action including blocking of the card account.
Mr. Adel Al Majed Group General manager of consumer banking business said that 'Given that NBK credit card holders travel a lot overseas, the implementation of such a system is a step in protecting the interests of NBK customers and safeguarding them from dangers of skimming fraud that is quite prevalent in many countries.' 'It is all a part of NBK's strategy to provide convenience and peace of mind while using the NBK Credit Card. ' added Mr. Majed.
This fraud management system is a tool that helps make things go right while others try to make things wrong. With such advanced fraud tracking mechanism in place, it is worthwhile using the credit card for payments rather than cash.
Now NBK customers can confidently use their card without the worry of fraud when travelling
NBK is one of the few banks in Kuwait and in the middle east to implement the Falcon Fraud Management system.
