Citrix launches new generation of products

The Citrix Solutions Seminar 2004 at Fairmont Hotel, Dubai had a morning session for customers in which the new product's features and how businesses can benefit from the new platform release, were explained.

The two parallel Citrix reseller afternoon sessions covered both the technical advancements of the new product suite with also a sales and business update. Nearly 200 participants at the seminar had the opportunity to see for themselves the extra features of the new generation products.

Antoine Aguado, Regional Manager, Citrix Systems, said: "The live demonstration showed how MetaFrame Access Suite is the most complete, secure and well-managed access infrastructure enabling access to enterprise applications and information on demand. The presentation also explained the product licensing, migration from MetaFrame 1.8/XP, Subscription Advantage renewals and pricing."

Aguado added: "The launch also focused on the more authentication options and enhanced application support of MetaFrame Password Manager 2.5, how users can deliver increased productivity and leverage existing investments on portal technology with MetaFrame Secure Access Manager 2.2, and how to extend application conferencing to external users and enable greater information sharing with MetaFrame Conferencing Manager 3.0."

"MetaFrame Access Suite 3.0 is not just an update release to improve a traditional Citrix environment, but an entirely new platform for accessing applications." Aguado concluded.

The MetaFrame Access Suite 3.0 comes with, among others, new features such as secure synchronization with a locally installed Outlook, new multimedia optimizations for SpeedScreen (permitting Flash, images, audio, and even video to operate in a manner that is both faster and smoother over low bandwidth), voice dictation capabilities, and the long anticipated Smooth Roaming -- which will permit better connection resilience and reliability, faster connection and disconnection, and the ability to resize displays "on the fly". This functionality could be used, for example, to move from desktop to Pocket PC using the same session.

According to the company, the new version delivers unsurpassed security, mobility, flexibility, productivity and performance. Specifically, it offers many new capabilities including the comprehensive management of MetaFrame Presentation Server, the mobility and flexibility benefits of MetaFrame Secure Access Manager, the single sign-on (SSO) and password security offered by MetaFrame Password Manager, and the collaborative resources of MetaFrame Conferencing Manager.

Metaframe Access Suite 3.0 also has a common management interface that lets IT administrators observe and measure access infrastructure performance across the enterprise.

The CSAs, are quite excited about this as they see excellent reward for their present sales efforts to SMBs and enterprise customers."
