  • PRESS RELEASE

In a move designed to increase participation at this year's Islamic Scientific Research Seminar, organised by the Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah, e-Company, the online services and e-solutions business unit of Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat), is to provide a host of free Internet services for the event via Emirates Internet Portal & Albahhar portal (www.eim.ae and www.albahhar.ae).

A complete online strategy has been devised to coincide with the seminar, which will run from July 3rd to 16th 2004.

In addition to a high-speed connection, a live video stream will allow any user to access the seminar's proceedings and experience the speeches first hand. A specific web site will also be hosted and promoted on the Albahhar.com portal to provide background information and further reading on the topic of the Islamic religion.

"It is a sign of the times that we are using the Internet to increase participation in this event," commented Abdulla Hashim, Senior Manager Business Development and Sales at e-Company. "The Islamic Scientific Research Seminar is designed to educate the Muslim community on the diversity of their religion. e-Company is delighted to be able to help bring the message to a wider audience. Through the Net, we are able to disseminate large quantities of written information and broadcast the proceedings via web pages and video feeds."

The high-speed connection at the event will be provided via e-Company's BusinessOne package. Because BusinessOne offers a range of solutions, it has been possible to facilitate the video streaming via the high-speed connection whilst also allowing for the seminar's personal web site to be hosted.

As well as providing a live video stream at the actual time of the speeches, an archive has also been designed to allow users to access video footage at a later stage. When combed with the Islamic Scientific Seminar's home page, more people will have access to vastly more information on the Islamic faith covered at the event.

To complete the package, e-Company will be run additional promotional technology online to draw users to the seminar's home page. A permanent directional tool will be included on the Albahhar.com home page that will direct users directly to the home page of the Islamic Scientific Research page. Other tactics will include online advertising banners in a variety of forms.
