American Express MENA sponsoring AACO training for airline partners

American Express Middle East recently announced that the company will sponsor training courses for employees of its partner Airlines with the Arab Air Carriers Organisation (AACO).

American Express is the first credit card company to establish such a relationship with AACO and is looking at a long-term association with airline training.

The sponsorship initiative comes as part of the company's expanding relationships with Arab carriers and is in line with American Express' traditional association with the travel industry. Partner Airlines will be able to select the employees to attend and choose among more than 40 training courses in different areas of airline management.

Trevor Stokes, President and CEO of American Express Middle East and North Africa said: "The partnerships with airlines in the region are very important and valuable for us. American Express has marked a significant increase of charge volume on Arab carriers in 2003. Our decision to support AACO training reflects our commitment to the development of our Airline partners and the air transport industry in the region as a whole."

Mouna Moussi, Head of Industry Affairs, AACO said: "We praise the initiative of American Express to becoming an AACO Industry Partner and sponsoring training seats at its Regional Training Centre in Amman".

AACO's mission is to promote cooperation amongst Arab Airlines and to serve their common interest through service excellence. The organisation has a dedicated regional training centre working in association with a number of prestigious institutions such as the Aviation Training and Development Institute of IATA, EURESAS and SITA. The centre has successfully established itself as a valuable partner in human resource development for air carriers and aviation related organizations around the world.

The Arab Air Carriers Organisation (AACO) was established in 1965 by a resolution of the Council of the Arab Transport Ministries working within the framework of the Arab League States. AACO is an independent non-profit organization headed by the Secretary General Mr. Abdul Wahab Teffaha, with a total of 20 member Arab Airlines.
AACO has become in the last seven years, a reference in the Aviation Industry as it has succeeded in creating negotiation powers and strong coordination amongst the different Aviation Authorities.
