The purpose of the policy statement is to set the principles and guidelines pertaining to issuing postal stamps in Jordan.

In its effort to draft the policy, MoICT held a workshop encompassing participants representing different segments of the Jordanian society in order to gather holistic views, perspectives, and requirements related to stamps policy, stamps issuance subjects and guidelines, promotion and means of increasing the participation of citizens.

The draft policy states many goals for issuing postal stamps: (1) to brand Jordan; (2) to demonstrate Jordan's progressive development and achievements; (3) to portray Jordanian history, culture and civilization; (4) to promote Jordan world wide; and (5) to foster and further develop public interest in postal stamps. Once the overall framework of the policy is set, criteria for selecting subjects of postal stamps will be set and, and regular annual issuance plans to be submitted.

MoICT formed the Postal Stamps Committee (PSC) hosting prominent intellectuals, artists and historians. The primary role of the committee is to evaluate and select subjects that would satisfy policy objectives. The committee is also entrusted to prepare regular annual issuance plans, set artistic basis and technical specifications of the postal stamps, and commission firms to design stamps professionally.

The Secretary General of MoICT, head of the Postal Stamps Committee, H.E. Nadia AlSaeed said that "Stamps are little icons that reflect our achievements and heritage, they are also means to communicate the Jordanian identity worldwide, with this in mind we prepared the policy."

MoICT is currently reactivating the official postal stamps website to be a tool to facilitate citizen's participation. MoICT invites those who are interested to review the draft Statement of Government Policy for Issuing Postal Stamps that is published on the Ministry's website, and welcomes any idea or feedback on this matter.
