The quality of the infrastructure is crucial, to support and satisfy world's leading institutions that will be the tenants of DHCC.

"We are sparing no effort or expense to create a facility that we and all the people of Dubai, the UAE and the region, would be proud of," says Omar Al Shunnar, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Dubai Healthcare City.

"We are highly committed in establishing DHCC as the region's healthcare hub. Quality healthcare will be available to people of the region once DHCC is fully operational," Al Shunnar pointed out.

Rapid growth
He said Dubai is growing rapidly, both in terms of its physical expansion as also in terms of global awareness about its image for excellence. People around the globe are beginning to look at Dubai, which is already attracting some 5 million tourists a year. "With a target of 15 million inbound travellers in just six years, it is necessary for projects such as DHCC to create facilities that ensure the well-being of residents and visitors," said the Al Shunnar.

Construction on site has started and is progressing at a rapid pace. "With the way our contractors at site are working with their labour, we are sure that the project will be completed ahead of schedule and will be ready for handover of keys to our partners much before the inaugural ceremony," said Omar Al Shunnar.

Inaugural date
He announced that the first four buildings of Phase I Dubai Healthcare City will be inaugurated on 15th December 2004.

Al Shunnar said that according to the vision of H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Minister for Defence. 'Health is the most important of man's assets. Without it, not only does he and his family suffer, the economy does too. Therefore any prosperous economy's development depends considerably on its citizens' good health', he added.

Encouraged by the words of His Highness, and DHCC strives to deliver quality healthcare through medical research and education.

Only the best
"Dubai Healthcare City, when fully operational, will fill a large Gap in the healthcare industry. And, to ensure that, we have carefully selected only the best to partner with," said Al Shunnar while pointing to the world's most prestigious institutions such as Harvard Medical School, John Hopkins and Mayo Clinic, which have joined DHCC in creating a regional centre of excellence for healthcare at DHCC.

"The Dubai Healthcare City has so far invested close to AED 350 million in just setting up the physical infrastructure. We are sure that what we are building will be a testimony of what our region and our people can achieve when they have a vision and insist on developing it," Al Shunnar added.
