- PRESS RELEASE
Emirates Computers today announced that it has signed an agreement for the 'Core Banking Infrastructure Project' with Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB).
Steven Dickens, Chief Operations Officer, ADCB explained: "ADCB, together with our advisors at Cedar Consulting went through a thorough evaluation process for our new infrastructure. Emirates Computers scored highly across all categories, and their track record, as a trusted provider was also important. We are pleased with the solution - this technology is more manageable, more flexible and more user-friendly for our staff allowing them to have easy access to the front-end system."
"Cedar assisted in the evaluation and finalization of the core banking infrastructure project. The evaluation was based on a scientific process of functional, technical and vendor parameters where Dell and Emirates Computers came out to be the leaders in Intel servers. This was a primary factor in choosing Emirates Computers. The legacy infrastructure based on mainframe technology had to be moved to Intel based platform and Emirates Computers has successfully assisted ADCB into making this transformation seamlessly. This large change will assist the Bank in providing better customer service through the use of contemporary technology," concluded Chetan Parekh, Senior Consultant at Cedar Consulting.
The industry leading Dell PowerEdge 6650 and PowerEdge 2650 servers with scalability, reliability and high availability features form the backbone of the server hardware infrastructure to be deployed at ADCB.
The criticality of the applications running on these servers and nature of operation also dictated a higher level of support services that include a 24 x 7 access to Emirates Computers' resources. By moving to industry standard Intel servers, ADCB realized the benefits of more flexible, cost-effective and robust server solutions.
"The hardware offering that Emirates Computers has deployed at ADCB is proof of our strong focus on the banking and financial sector. In the competitive Middle East financial sector, banks are looking for solutions that will give them the leading edge by offering differentiated customer services. We are very pleased that ADCB is leveraging from this infrastructure because this will in turn allow them to have a competitive advantage and better serve their customers' business needs," explained Dani Diab, Vice President of Emirates Computers.
