Bahrain's leading Islamic investment bank, Gulf Finance House B.S.C. (GFH), today announced the appointment of Mr. James Brent to head its Information Technology Department, with a mission to implement state-of-the-art front and back office systems in the investment bank.
"GFH's management have been working with international consultants for some time now to identify and acquire a new core banking system. That process is now coming to an end and the appointment of Mr. Brent is a critical step towards meeting our strategic objective of putting GFH at the leading edge of banking technology," Mr. Panayiotou said.
Previously, Mr. Brent was Head of Business Systems Development at Arab National Bank in Riyadh. Prior to the assignment in Saudi Arabia, Mr. Brent served as the IT Consultant of the International Bank of Southern Africa (IBSA), a joint venture of Dresdner Bank and BNP/Paribas in Johannesburg, for six years. Mr. Brent is a graduate in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from University of Natal, South Africa.
Mr. Brent said: "GFH's IT infrastructure is being substantially upgraded to meet the challenges presented by the bank's growth. I look forward to helping the bank to improve its treasury, accounting, investment administration and risk management systems. It is a very exciting time to be at GFH."
