Leading Australian university attracts large crowds in Dubai

A large number of students and parents attended the first evening and open day hosted by University of Southern Queensland in Dubai at the Knowledge Village.

USQ is evaluated by the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) - an independent Australian Government Agency that reports to the Commonwealth of Australia parliament and is partially funded by the Australian Government. USQ is audited by Queensland Government and is recognised by professional bodies for member ship of those bodies. It is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and UNESCO's International Association of Universities (IAU). USQ in Dubai will be offering a number of undergraduate, postgraduate and distance learning programs at Knowledge Village, Dubai commencing September 2004. The degrees for all programs offered by USQ in Dubai will be issued from USQ, Australia.

Dr. Brian Cook, Executive Director, USQ International, making a presentation to the audience during the open day said: "The University of Southern Queensland in Dubai is dedicated to giving students a good learning environment by delivering innovative programs with a strong commitment to educational quality. USQ in Dubai will be offering programs to 2 sets of students: students interested in on-ground/face to face undergraduate and postgraduate programs and distance learning programs for the other set of students who prefer to study from home." Dr. Cook later went on to say that he enjoyed interacting with students through the Open Day answering all the questions and providing them in-depth information about USQ in Dubai.

Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, CEO of Knowledge Village, present on the occasion, assured the audience of his confidence in the quality and value of USQ: "Till very recently our students had to travel to US, UK and Australia for high quality international education and degrees. I would like to thank our reputed international partners such as USQ as to have the opportunity to acquire the best quality international education to the students of our region at Knowledge Village."

USQ, with more than 27000 students has over 8000 international students from across the world is one of the fastest growing international universities in the world with student numbers expected to touch 12000 within the next 3 years. Consolidating its presence on the global educational arena is one of USQ's key priorities. "With the collapse of geographical boundaries, the whole world is becoming a smaller, tightly-linked place," said Dr. Brain Cook. "In the educational industry too we are witnessing the same trends. The demand for higher education is expected to rise from the present 90 million students to more than 300 million students across the globe by 2020. With this increase, people will increasingly seek out international players such as USQ. We want to be there to play a key role when that happens."

Programs on Offer at USQ in Dubai (Degrees will be issued by USQ, Australia)

Undergraduate Programs
USQ in Dubai will offer full-time regular three-year Bachelor degree programs in Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Information Technology and Bachelor of Mass Communication.

Postgraduate Programs
USQ in Dubai will also offer a full-time and part-time Master degree programs in Master of Business Administration, Master of Business Administration - International Business and Master of Information Technology.

Freshmen Year Program
For students who do not yet satisfy the academic pre-requisites for automatic entry, USQ in Dubai will offer Freshmen Year Program. This program provides an opportunity to student to prepare for successful university study and to obtain a guaranteed place in an undergraduate program.

Distance Learning Programs
Students can register for any Distance Learning program offered by the home campus USQ in Dubai. The external cell of USQ in Dubai will offer registration and study support services to enrolled students.
