INTRACOM appoints new head of Middle East operations

Signaling the importance of the region to INTRACOM, Vougas will further develop the company's presence in the Middle East's growing telecommunications market. The main areas of focus for Vougas will be to supply technology to all four key verticals - telecommunications, defense, government and banking.

Based in the Middle East since 2000, Vougas brings to the role more than a decade of experience in leading IT companies across emerging markets. With a strong track record for achieving results in sales, channel development, and managing large teams, he is fluent in English, French and Greek.

My aim is to capture the strong demand that exists in the Middle East for telecommunication and information systems and drive the business for INTRACOM's regional office,' said Vougas. By the end of 2004, INTRACOM is expected to sign contracts valued at more than 620 million euros. Currently more than 45 percent of the company's annual turnover is generated by exports and in the next few years that figure is expected to reach 50 percent.
