LG launches stylish flash memory drives

The slick device has a stylish metallic exterior and is extremely compact, measuring six centimeters by two centimeters and weighing only a few grammes. The USB drive facilitates high speed data transfer and will soon be available in the Middle East.

The 'Plug and Play' method ensures the device is user friendly. Information can be extracted or transferred securely by inserting the memory stick into the USB slot on a device. Data transfer onto the USB drive is facilitated just like the data transfer process between a floppy disk and the hard drive of a PC. Information stored on the USB can be erased, thus allowing virtually unlimited usage.

"The USB flash memory drive facilitates convenient access to data. LG has produced some of the world's leading storage mediums and we have seen a tremendous boost in sales in optical storage devices this year. We are the market leaders in this segment with a global market share of 26 per cent market," said Mr. K.H. Kim, LG IT Products Manager.

Electronic memory is now available in a variety of forms to serve different purposes. The LG Flash memory drive is a solid-state storage device as it uses electronic, rather than mechanical, methods of storage.

The LG flash memory drives work on all popular operating systems including Windows, Mac OS and Linex and utilises USB 2.0 transfer method, through which information can be transferred at a speed of 12Mb per second.

The drives are available in two sizes of 256 and 512MB, with a two-year manufacturer's warranty. Each memory drive is a self-sufficient unit with a USB cable, drivers and a sling for easy mobility.
