BenQ reports 20 per cent rise in LCD TVs sales

The growth in LCD TV sales is partly attributed to the replacement market, as people update their outdated TVs for stylish and compact models. BenQ's TVs range in size from 15" up to a 30" with plans to introduce a 46" screen to the region at an advanced stage.

Demand for LCD TVs has been particularly strong in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, following the introduction of BenQ's 30" DV3080 which is designed for family viewing.

"LCD TV sales have been buoyant across the Middle East for the last six months, as more people look to replace their old TVs with newer models," said Robert Dung, managing director, BenQ Middle East. "Our larger sized screens have proved to be very popular."

As the third largest manufacturer of LCD panels in the world, BenQ has steadily introduced new models of LCD TVs in order to capitalize on the growing home entertainment market and the increasing number of hours that people spend watching television.

"The regional LCD TV sector is maturing rapidly, with a growing understanding of the benefits of LCD technology," said Dung. "It is important that we keep innovating and updating our product range in order to satisfy the expectations of consumers."

The 20" H200, designed for portability, and the larger DV2680, BenQ's 26" LCD TV, are proven performers with technology-savvy consumers. The DV3080, a 30" LCD TV with 3D edge filtering, has also shown to be popular with families wanting to sit and watch television together.

A 32" & 37" model will join BenQ's range in the third quarter of this year, while a 46" LCD TV will be introduced into the region by the end of the fourth quarter.

"In the next few months BenQ plans to add further models to its range, including the 46" model, which is expected to be the star performer of our LCD TV family. Preparations are well underway and the introduction will cement BenQ's position as a leading supplier of LCD TV technology," said Dung.
