While providing razor-sharp and flicker-free images with progressive scan, and improved image quality with 4x video upsampling, the DVP642K also lets you view movies, listen to music and review photographs in an astounding range of formats that includes DVD, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, VCD, SVCD, and DivX® 3.11/4.x/5.x video, and CD, MP3-CD, CD-R and CD-RW music, as well as picture CDs (JPEG) with music (MP3) - all in the comfort of your living room.

"The design team at Philips designed the DVP642K DVD-video player to play such a broad range of formats because we know this is a key element in today's home entertainment experience. By letting consumers enjoy on viewing and listening to the disk rather than struggling with disks that cannot be read by most DVD players, this Philips player delivers a richer, more enjoyable, experience," said Khalid Tuer, Philips Regional General Manager, Middle East and Africa.

The DivX® media format is an MPEG-4 based video compression technology that enables the saving of large files such as movies and music videos on media such as CD-R/RW, memory cards and DVD-Video.

The DVP642K also has a karaoke function and Smart Picture, which provides optimum picture settings for colour brightness, saturation, contrast and sharpness, to enhance the viewing experience at all times.
