- PRESS RELEASE
Motorola Inc. (NYSE:MOT) has deployed the Oman Mobile Telecommunications Company L.L.C. Network for the Khareef Salalah Festival taking place in Oman.
"This is an important event for Oman and we welcome this opportunity to work with Oman Mobile again and to further demonstrate our commitment to the region," said Jeff Cherif vice president, Motorola Inc., and general manager of Motorola's Infrastructure Sector Middle East and Africa (MEA). "By working closely with Oman Mobile, we will provide the coverage and capacity that festival goers have come to expect."
The Telecommunications and IT exhibition is part of the 60 Day Khareef Festival which attracts more than 150,000 visitors annually. Attendees to the exhibition will have the opportunity to win one of two new Motorola handsets on each day of the event, including the E398, by entering a prize draw run by Oman Mobile.
"Motorola is very excited to be part of this event with Oman Mobile. This is a great opportunity for us to showcase celluar technology direct to Omani consumers and the visitors from the Gulf Region. Oman is a key market in the region, as demonstrated by the recent Motorola Intern program, and we continue to strengthen our commitment in the area," said Jadaway Al Riyamy, Motorola country manager for Oman.
The new, high end V80 mobile phone has a rotary cover allowing for both portrait and landscape pictures to be taken and an integrated Bluetooth capability that means users can connect completely wirelessly to compatible headsets and car kits.
In supporting the Khareef Salalah Festival, Motorola builds on 30 years of experience in the Middle East. This experience is illustrated by trials and contract wins throughout the region, including the first Push-to-Talk over cellular (PoC) trial with Fastlink in EMEA.
