- Egypt: Saturday, September 15 - 2001 at 10:04
- PRESS RELEASE
In a serious attempt to fulfill the needs of Arab users, Imaginet Software Company, a Microsoft Egypt national affiliate, launched the first Arabic Support and Software Development Kit for 'Microsoft Windows CE' produced by Microsoft Corp., the leading company in computer software products.
"Microsoft Windows CE can operate low-energized computers. It can also operate several internet applications and solutions. The program has been designed to ensure the utmost comfort for users in the Arab region. It will help them operate their programs as if they were in their office. Through artificial intelligence, it enables users to scribble on a PC terminal with an ordinary pen. The system will translate such writings into computer language. Moreover, it will identify the user's handwriting " said Mohamed Gawdat Microsoft Egypt, Internet Solution Manager.
"Microsoft Windows CE will enable pocket PCs to browse the Internet, receive faxes and read e-mails by wireless communication. It can also work as a mobile phone to make phone calls from anywhere. Furthermore, it provides new solutions in the fields of security and digital imaging, so that the pocket PC may be used as a digital camera as well ". Gawdat added.
"Microsoft Windows CE will lead to a radical change in the concept of PC. It will make its usage easy and adaptable to different work environments. Microsoft will provide its customers with new technologies such as wireless communication technology, which they may fit into their computers at any time. This will help them develop their own customized technology ". Dr. Hazem Abd El-Azeem, CEO of Imaginet Software, announced: "For the first time in the Middle East, the Company has succeeded in creating Arabized applications of Windows CE. This will open the gate for pocket PC users to make use of all computer functions, whether through keyboarding or handwriting identification, Internet browsing and e-mailing ".
"In fact, the use of the mobile systems to obtain wireless electronic information through " WAP " is not a new idea. This technology was not a big success in the Arab Region due to the difficulty of handling this technology in Arabic. However, by adding the new applications in Arabic MS Windows CE, it will be possible to develop sites rich in Arabic information as well as an interesting interface that will help browse this information by pocket computers. A new generation of pockets PCs integrated with GSM and based on MS windows CE, will be launched in the market very soon ", Dr. Hazem added.
" This serious approach to Arabize Microsoft Windows CE will help firms to develop e-business. Sales and marketing staff may perform all their customers transactions directly without going back to their firm ". Dr. Hazem said "While in the office, an employee may access the firm database through a password to know the volume of stock available of any product, send a
purchase order for a client and determine the delivery time and the total cost. The firm top management and decision makers may remain in contact with their offices to be informed of any news and take the necessary decisions in order to accelerate performance and improve management.
