One of its initiatives is to provide members the services of armoured vehicles to boost security measures in the transportation of precious cargo.
Transguard, the top-notch security services organization that is part of the Emirates Group has a fleet of 60 armoured vehicles. The organisation will now acquire two more of these vehicles to cater to the demand from DGJG members.
Mr. Tawhid Abdullah, Chairman of DGJG said: 'We are extremely proud of this partnership with Transguard and are committed to continue providing better services and benefits for our members. The gold and jewellery consumption in Dubai is particularly significant and state-of-the-art infrastructure advancement for all our members will help position our emirate globally as the hub of choice for gold, jewellery and precious stones.
The strategic alliance between DGJG and Transguard enables gold and jewellery traders to send and receive valuable cargo safely at the Gold Souk itself, avoiding the need to pick up consignments at the airport. With this arrangement, traders will find that the movement of their precious cargo will be faster, more convenient and less expensive. DGJG members can avail of this service at special rates.
'At any given time 25 tonnes of jewellery are displayed in the Gold Souk shops representing a retail business worth US$ 3 billion. More than 200 DGJG members currently avail the services and the privileged rates offered by Transguard's secure logistics centre which makes it easier for them to receive and dispatch their goods closer to their outlet. The enhanced service is a step further towards DGJG's commitment to its members and alliances in terms of benefits and complete security for their valuable goods,' added Mr. Abdullah
Transguard works with DGJG to offer the logistics centre faster turnaround times, increased security and reliability, special rates on cargo shipments, easy access for DGJG members and control over each individual transaction.
Dr. Abdulla Al Hashimi, Emirates Group's Senior Vice President of Security said: 'The joint initiative continues to be beneficial for both Transguard and DGJG and allows us to rapidly expand our own business owing to the latter's large membership base.
'We are able to offer better rates to DGJG' members due to the economies of scale developed with bulk consignments. The safety and security of valuable consignments are of paramount importance to Transguard and with the addition of armoured vehicles customers can rest easy that their precious goods are in safe hands, concluded Dr. Al Hashimi.
Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group joint initiative with Transguard offers members enhanced benefits at Goldland
Barely a year after the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group (DGJG) and Emirates Group's Transguard signed an MOU to establish the Gold Souk Logistic Centre, they have announced that the activities of the Centre will be further broadened to benefit the majority of DGJG's members.
