Work commences on Bahrain's first twin towers

Construction work has commenced on a new twin tower development, of more than 40 storeys, in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
An official ground breaking ceremony took place in August, for the construction of the spectacular new commercial development and was attended by Mr Samir A Nass, managing Director of Nass Group who have combined with Murray and Roberts, South Africa to undertake the construction of the project. Mr Barend De-Klerk, Construction Manager for the join construction company Nass, Murray and Roberts also attended the ceremony along with Mr Martyn Lass, Resident Engineer from the architectural firm Atkins, Bahrain, who designed the project, Mr Cliff Langford, Director of DTZ, the worldwide firm of international property developers who will be managing the complex, and the Client Representative and Senior Project Quantity Surveyor for Haj Group Mr CK Prideep.
Mr Cliff Langford, commented: "This commercial development is set to become one of Bahrain's most spectacular landmarks and will offer state-of-the-art, commercial, retail and dining facilities to some of the world's most exclusive corporate entities and brand names."
He added, "By enhancing and developing the facilities available in this already successful complex in the centre of Manama, we will maintain its position as the country's most prestigious business address."
The new project is set to complete in the summer of 2006 and will house an extended retail centre of approximately 100 new units, and 35,000 sq. mtrs. of prime office space in a twin tower commercial centre which will be over 40 storeys high.
On behalf of Atkins, Bahrain Mr Martyn Lass commented, "Bahrain is moving forward at am amazing pace and we are proud to be working on this exciting project which is sure to become one of the Kingdom's most famous land marks."
The managing agent, DTZ, has already instigated a strong marketing approach to letting the towers and will soon reveal plans offering a unique opportunity to utilise this development in expanding global trade opportunities for Bahrain. The details will be revealed shortly and will involve local businesses who wish to take space in the units, alongside top international corporate and retail tenants who are already showing interest in this project.
It will be business as usual at the Bahrain Commercial Complex during the construction period, and DTZ are working closely with the tenants to ensure minimum disruption to both tenants and visitors to the complex.
