OnLine Distribution introduces cost-effective network solutions
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, August 16 - 2004 at 14:16
- PRESS RELEASE
OnLine Distribution, the Middle East's leading distributor for networking products and solutions, has added new products from 3Com, Molex, Corning Cable Systems and Symbol Technologies.
3Com® IntelliJack™ Switch NJ225
The 3Com® IntelliJack™ Switch NJ225 is a four-port, managed Fast Ethernet switch that can support VOIP, IEEE 802.1p packet prioritization, IEEE 802.1Q VLANs, and IEEE 802.3af power over Ethernet. This "in the wall" solution mounts in BSI- or DIN-standard wall cutouts for a fraction of what it costs to run Category 5 or 5e cabling. The pass-through port can be used to add an analog voice or dedicated LAN line.
The IntelliJack Switch NJ225 supports IEEE 802.1X network login for enhanced security. This SNMP-compatible switch includes capabilities for port-, unit-, and group-level administration. It's also enterprise-ready, supporting most management platforms such as 3Com Network Supervisor and HP OpenView.
3Com IntelliJacks are significantly less vulnerable to theft or damage than freestanding alternatives. They install without disturbing walls, ceilings, or day-to-day operations - making them ideal for hospitals, hotels, classrooms, historical buildings, conference rooms, and cubicles.
Molex introduces Laserstream
Laserstream™ is the new blown fibre system from Molex. The key benefit of blown fibre technology is its level of flexibility for IT Managers during both the implementation and upgrading of fibre infrastructure. It can be installed with standard Molex connectivity, patch panel and cable management products and is supported by the Global 25-Year system performance, product and application assurance warranty.
Laserstream is perfectly suited for projects implemented in phases or where the requirements for cabling infrastructure are not determined at the outset. The versatility of this solution can deliver cost benefits because it is deployed when required, the need for "dark" fibers is eliminated, and existing links can be re-routed to new users.
Corning EPIC Connector Panels
Corning's EPIC Connector and Splice Panel provides single housing for convenient fiber optic pigtail splicing of multimode (including the laser enhanced fiber Xcelerate Plus), and single-mode fibres.
Corning Cable Systems' EPIC Panel includes the benefits of a connector panel and a splice panel. The cost-effective design provides a fiber dense solution that saves valuable rack space and interchangeable brackets for installation in 19" and ETSI Racks. Through the provision of a slide out drawer, it allows easy access to the splice area and a hinged opening for the splice tray allows easy access to the second tray. Installation is made easy with the supply of routing guides.
Ideal for all types of network designs including stand alone and basic installations, the EPIC panel is a rack mounted solution that can be ordered for fiber counts of 12 or 24 for all connectors. It is also available with 48 fibers for LC Duplex and MT RJ connectors, with 62.5 µm, 50 µm, OM3 and single-mode Corning fiber. Each splice tray accepts 24 crimp or heat-shrink splice protectors.
Symbol WS 2000 Wireless Switch
Symbol's WS 2000 Wireless Switch is the first integrated wired and wireless networking solution, priced and designed to meet the needs of SMB and branch offices, from retail stores, warehouses, coffee shops and restaurants to libraries, satellite offices and more. This new wireless switch eliminates the need to purchase and manage additional network equipment.
Support for multiple wireless LAN protocols (Wi-Fi® IEEE 802.11b, 802.11a; 802.11g capable), as well as an integrated router, gateway and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) simplifies network deployment and management, and reduces capital expense. Functionality includes an integrated Stateful Packet Inspection Firewall, Network Address Translation (NAT), DHCP server, and WAN connectivity support for flexible low cost installation.
The WS 2000 has integrated security features that provide end-to-end layered security. It allows to restrict authorized users and devices to specific resources through network based packet filtering or ACLs that limit access based on MAC addresses or restricts authorized users and devices to specific applications by authenticating users based on application or network-based packet filtering using TCP/UDP ports.
"The key is to provide our partners with a wide range of products to suit the needs of its customers and their budgets," continued Rich. All the products are already available through OnLine and its channel partners throughout the Middle East.
