Jordan's Global Village receives great success since inauguration

Jordan's newest international cultural event, the Global Village Amman 2004, has in its first opening week received more than 25,000 people with an expected three million during the whole month period.

Inaugurated by Jordan's Prime Minister, Faisal Al Fayez, the Global Village Amman 2004 will welcome Jordanians, Arabs and guests from all over the world till the 25th of August 2004.

'The Global Village Amman 2004 represents yet another milestone in Jordan's ongoing efforts to mobilize local and international investment towards promoting tourism and bridging the cultural gap across the world,' said Marwan Khoury, Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board. 'We are pleased and proud of the success the Global Village has shown thus far, and will be rolling it out as an annual event which we're sure will firmly establish itself as one's of the region's most renowned cultural events', he added

Located in Marj Al Hamam, a magnificent topography with a unique landscape, the Global Village summons beautifully architected pavilions of over 12 participating countries, reflecting each country's traditions and cultures whilst exhibiting and selling handicrafts and products. It also features numerous kiosks holding all sorts of commodities as well as a spectrum of restaurants and coffee shops offering incomparable delicious cuisines.

Visitors can also enjoy a host of celebrations in the Main Theatre including folklore performances from various countries around the world as well as a number of musical concerts from renowned Jordanian and Arab singers, fashion and jewellery shows as well as laser and light shows.

Rotana Nights, The village's line up of musical concerts has particularly drawn an increasing number of visitors. Broadcast live on Rotana Music channel, the industry's biggest names, including Fadel Shaker, Shireen, Assi Hillani, Haifa Wehbeh, 4 Cats, Fadi Ghassan and Amal Shalabi gather to capture visitors' hearts and souls under the moonlit Jordanian skies.

The Global Village also showcases a world of entertaining activities ranging from puppet shows, comedy shows, plays and musicals to clowns and jugglers. In addition, the village features a monumental 14,000 sqm Fun Fair from England with rides that guarantee the most discerning fun and entertainment.

To make people's visit a seamless enjoyable experience, the Village provides public transportation, information desks and site maps showing all attraction areas and facilities, business centres, praying locations, clinics, vending machines and WCs. Banks, ATM machines and exchange offices are also available around the village.

'We have modeled The Global Village Amman 2004 against the one held in Dubai every year, primarily due to the incredible amount of success it has received. We are confident that we will be able to mirror the same kind of success in years to come', he concluded.
