Lebanese companies showcase solutions for the Arab market

The IT industry in Lebanon has seen significant development in the last year with the government taking the initiative to foster the growth of the sector.

The development is the result of cooperation between the public and the private sectors with the government taking responsibility for key regulatory functions while the private sector has been the main driver in implementation.

Evidence of this growth is available in the large number of Lebanese IT companies that are participating in Gitex 2001 to be held from October 14 to 18 at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC).

"Lebanon's growing IT sector will have the opportunity to demonstrate its strengths at Gitex 2001 and its participation in the exhibition will help enhace Lebanon's role as a strong regional high tech center and re-export gateway," said Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Corporate Manager Exhibitions, DWTC.

Gitex Dubai, which is organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and held annually at the DWTC Exhibition Halls, is the largest and most important IT event in the Middle East and one of the top IT shows in the world. Gitex Computer Shopper, the retail arm of Gitex will be held at the Airport Expo, Dubai.
