Maktoob.com ranked as most popular Arabic online destination

Further underlining its position as the most popular online Arabic destination, Maktoob.com has topped the ranks of highly visited Arabic websites following a report published by Alexa.com, the much respected subsidiary of Amazon.com that specialises in Internet rankings.
In total worldwide rankings, Maktoob.com was placed at 485th position, well ahead of its closest Arab competitor, amrkhaled.net, which stood at 583rd position, and aljazeera.net at 621st position. Internationally, however, yahoo.com and msn.com commanded the first and second positions respectively.

Explaining that the new rankings emphasized Maktoob.com's hard-earned leading stature in the Arab world's fast-developing Internet industry, Samih Toukan, CEO, Maktoob.com said: "Naturally, we are excited about Alexa's new findings, which speak a great deal about our own success to further develop the Internet culture in the region. According to the Alexa.com results, the top 10 Arabic websites were found to be Maktoob.com (485th position), amrkhaled.net (583), Aljazeera.net (621), islamonline.net (1468), ahram.org.eg (1535), 6arab.com (1998), masrawy.com (2316), jeeran.com (2670), google.ae (3467), 6rb.com (3251).
